How 18 Clues Works
Visit our Challenge Shop and purchase one or more of our 18 Clues Challenges. Pick a Walking Challenge, where you visit the location and hunt down clues hidden in plain sight, or a Virtual ('Armchair') Challenge, which can be completed from anywhere using tools such as what3words, Google Maps and your preferred search engine. Whether exploring on foot or from the comfort of your own digs, you'll uncover fascinating stories, quirky facts, and places that most people walk straight past without noticing.
New Challenges are released regularly, each featuring a different location and available in both Walking and Virtual formats. The clues, facts and solutions are totally different in each version, so if you can visit the location you can tackle both Challenges. That’s twice the discoveries and twice the bragging rights!
Find all 18 clues and solve them correctly to reveal the final Challenge solution. Submit your answer online to check it and unlock optional entry into our skill‑based prize competition.
Best of all, 18 Clues proudly supports animal welfare and environmental charities in the UK and overseas. As our business grows, so does the number of charities we support through our quarterly donations.

To enter our skill‑based Prize Competition, you must locate and solve all 18 clues in a given Challenge and submit your final answer online. Only correct submissions qualify for entry. Entries must be submitted by midnight on 30th November. Winners will then be chosen at random from all correct entries and notified shortly afterwards... in good time for Christmas! Today Cardiff is a lively city that feels effortlessly historic, modern, and full of surprises.
The Challenge... A rugby ball from Wales’ legendary victory over the mighty New Zealand All Blacks in the fiercely contested ‘Match of the Century’ at Cardiff Arms Park in 1905 has vanished. Can you track down the location of this priceless relic by uncovering and solving 18 clues hidden across Cardiff City Centre?

The Charity... 18 Clues proudly supports animal and environmental charities at home and abroad. Each time we add a new set of Challenges to our portfolio, we select an additional inspirational charity to donate to on a quarterly basis. In this instance we chose to add the All Creatures Great and Small animal sanctuary to our list of charities. Founded in 1992 by Vivienne Harris, All Creatures Great and Small rescues and cares for dogs, cats, small pets and farm animals across South Wales.
