ABOUT THIS CHALLENGE
The Charity... £1 for every copy of the Liverpool - The Pool of Life Challenges sold will be donated to the Born Free Foundation via Work for Good.
The Location... From the cheeky charm of its ‘Scouser’ residents to the eclectic mix of Georgian grandeur and modern street art, Liverpool has a vibe that is hard to resist. Coupled with the Beatles’ legacy that lingers around every corner, a maritime history of global importance, iconic landmarks galore, and irrepressible ‘footy’ fervour, the offerings of this great city are endless. Its quirks are as infectious as the local accent!
The Challenge... You must locate the HQ of a criminal gang plotting to steal Bella and Bertie, the two gigantic liver birds that stand atop the Royal Liver building watching over the sea, city, and residents.
USEFUL INFORMATION
The Walking version will enable you to explore central Liverpool. It is around four and a half miles long and will take up to three and a half hours to complete. Allow longer for refreshment stops, picnics, and/or taking in points of interest along the way. The Challenge is circular, with Clues 1 and 18 within a stone's throw of Lime Street Railway Station. As with all Challenges, you can start and finish at any clue, and may split it over two or more days if you wish. NOTE: Most of the route is flat, apart from one or two gradual inclines and a few steps at Clue 14. Expect some cobbles as well.
Liverpool is full of interesting attractions, including bus tours and a large number of museums. There is literally something for everyone in Liverpool, from visiting the iconic football grounds, to numerous world-class museums and galleries, to themed and general bus tours. Be sure to do some research to find what fits your interests before you visits. That said, whether you are a Beatles fan or not, you can't visit Liverpool without spending an hour or two in the iconic Cavern Club on Mathew Street. It is underground and cosy, so if you're seriously claustraphobic perhaps give it a miss. Otherwise, invest a fiver to enter (card or contactless only), and soak in the atmosphere and music as long as you like. Certain Beatles tours give each passenger an entry card you can redeem at the door whenever you wish. Another must do, is a 50-minute ferry ride across the Mersey and back, which departs from Mersey Ferries on Pier Head.
The Virtual version will take up to two hours to complete, although you can, of course, start and stop whenever you wish. You never know where you will pop up next to find and solve a clue!
Clues, facts and solutions for the two versions are completely different, so if you live near or are visiting Liverpool, why not buy both Walking and Virtual versions to discover more and enhance your chances of winning the prize draw?
Remember that £1 from each and every Challenge we sell is donated to an animal or environmental chairity. Thank you for joining us in supporting animals and the environment!
