ABOUT THIS CHALLENGE
A lively city in southwest England known for its rich maritime history, Bristol exudes cultural diversity and creative energy. It boasts iconic landmarks like the Clifton Suspension Bridge and SS Great Britain (both designed by famed engineer Kingdom Isambard Brunel), and the historic harbourside that is now home to museums, galleries, and cafes. The city seamlessly blends historic charm with modern vibrancy and is fun to explore.
Your challenge is to locate a little dog called Möet, who disappeared during a walk on Brandon Hill. Her owner, a visiting A-lister from London, has pledged £20k to charity if Möet is found and returned to her.
The Walking version will enable you to explore central Bristol. It is around four and a half miles long and will take up to three hours to complete. Allow longer for refreshment stops, picnics, and/or taking in points of interest along the way. As with all Challenges, you can start and finish at any clue, and may split it over a couple of days if you wish. NOTE: Most of the route is either downhill or flat, apart from a stepped lane and moderate incline around Clues 17 and 18.
Arriving at Temple Meads Station? Exit the station and take the No. 8 bus to 'Park Street Top' bus stop, just opposite the University of Bristol. You will disembark opposite Clue 1.
If you are wishing to visit SS Great Britain, it is easily accessible by a very quick foot ferry ride from Clue 5. It is recommended that you book your tickets to the museum online in advance and allow yourself sufficient time to make the most of all the site has to offer. It is closed on Mondays. For further details see: www.ssgreatbritain.org.
Although not on the Walking route, the Clifton Suspension Bridge (www.cliftonbridge.org.uk) and/or Clifton Observatory (www.cliftonobservatory.com) are other Bristol must-sees. You can walk from Clue 18 (approx. 30 mins). Alternatively, take a No. 8 bus (approx. 20 mins, approx. £2pp) or catch a cab (5 mins, £7—£10) from opposite Clue 1.
The Virtual version will take up to two hours to complete, although you can, of course, start and stop whenever you wish. You never know where you will pop up next to find and solve a clue!
Clues, facts and solutions for the two versions are completely different, so if you live near or are visiting Bristol, why not buy both Walking and Virtual versions to discover more and enhance your chances of winning the prize draw?
Remember that £1 from each Challenge version sold will be donated to an animal or environmental chairity (see right for the charity/charities that we have linked with this Challenge location). Thank you for joining us in supporting animals and the environment!
